COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCE AND SENTENCE STRUCTURES


1.      Compound sentence
compound sentence consist of two independent clauses joined by coordinator conjunctions (For, And, Nor, But, Or,Yet, So =FANBOYS)
coordinators always preceded by a comma.
e.g I like apples, and he likes oranges.
I eat apples, but he doesn't eat apples.
He dislike apples, yet he ate one.
2.      compound-complex sentence consists of two independent clauses wiyh one or more dependent clauses. it will contain both coordinator conjunction and subordinator conjunctions.
Although I like to go camping, I haven't had the time to go lately, and i haven't found anyone to go with.
we decided that the movie was too violent, but our children, who like towatch scary movies, thought that we were wrong.

simple = 1 independent clause
compound = 2 or more independent clause
complex = 1 independent clause + 1 or more dependent clause
compound-complex = 2 or more independent clause + 1 or more dependent clause.
3.      Sentence structure
you can build a very simple sentence with just a verb.

you can add a subject and a complement to make a simple sentence:

she works in a zoo.
 you can use adjectives and adverbs to add description.

apparently, she works in a private zoo.
you can make a complex sentence by adding a second independent clause, with a conjuction.

apparently, she works in a private zoo, so she must know a lt oabout animals.

you can also make a complex sentence by adding a dependent clause, or even several dependent caluses, again using conjunctions to connect them.

apparently, she works in a private zoo, so she must know a lot about animals, which surprises me because as far as i know she studied economics at university, although i guess i could be remembering it wrong.
those sentences are basically correct, because they consists of subject and predicate.






Or we can use additional information if possible. But we cannot make a sentence only use these subjects and predicates below:



they do not give  a sense of meaning at all.



 We need some adding descriptions to make a complete sentence.

1.  Clause   the word 'which' here qualifies the noun 'grass'. a clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a predicate, and forms part of a sentence. a sentence may have one or more than one clause. 2.  Kind of clause Independent clause : is a group of words that has a subject and verb.
